- Prepare 1 tablespoon of melted butter/vegetable oil for cooking.
- You need 150 grams of leftover idli batter.
- It's 2 tablespoon of finely chopped coriander leaves.
- It's 1 of small onion chopped finely.
- It's 1 teaspoon of ginger-garlic paste.
- It's to taste of Salt.
- You need 1 tablespoon of oil/butter for greasing.
- You need 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds.
- Prepare 6-8 of curry leaves chopped finely.
- Prepare 2 of green chillies chopped finely.
- Prepare 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder.
- It's 1 teaspoon of cumin powder.
- It's 1 pinch of asafoetida/hing powder.
- Prepare as needed of Water.
- It's 2 of potato peeled and chopped roughly.
Idli Batter Sandwich step by step
- Heat oil for cooking in a wok.
- Temper with hing, curry leaves,cumin seeds.
- Add chopped onion, ginger-garlic paste and sauté till translucent.
- Add the potatoes, salt and dry spices now.
- Mix well and sauté 2 minutes.
- Once done, add water and cook covered till potatoes soften.
- Once the water is completely absorbed and potato soften, take off heat and mash the potatoes.
- Now grease the grill pan or sandwich maker with butter /oil and let it heat.
- Mix the salt needed to the idli batter and water if any(if too thick).
- Mix well and full the sandwich maker with 1 tablespoon batter.
- Add 1 tablespoon of potato curry prepared on the batter.
- Cover the curry completely like a sandwich with 1 tablespoon batter.
- Now grill like any normal sandwich till crisp and ready.
- Take off heat carefully and serve warm with chutneys/ ketchup and piping hot filter coffee.
